When I learned that you were gone I was so shocked that I would never see you or spend time with you again. I had planned to see you this weekend and I really felt I had let you down.
Your viewing was last night, and today we had your funeral in the Grace United Church where you married my mother on Oct. 08, 1955 and later married Enid. The minister was great, the chapel was beautiful. Your son Brett did such a great job providing a tribute to you and i wish he had not felt he had to keep it short. He had every right to talk as long as he wanted. He said he was proud to be your son. I was proud of him. Later while your sons and grandsons and other relatives acted as pall bearers, they once more made you proud.
Cory came up to me in such a mature fashion and with great gentility offered me his thanks. I was so impressed with him today. He truly showed that high-born side of himself.
Tomorrow we will meet again at the Cemetary to bury your ashes within your mother's grave, Gramma Helen Hohne. I am very pleased about putting you close to gramma, so she
can keep an eye on you.
Cousin Walter was also a great speaker and a great comfort to your children.
Cousin Jim Hohne and his wife Gail Hohne are very classy people with a lot of grace and common sense, and it was very easy to work along side him.
Cousin Liz and Ivan Van Metre were just great to us. It was so touching that they stayed close to us and comforted us.
Cousin Alice and Floyd and son Kirt were so willing to stand up for you Dad and it made me proud to have these
family members be there for you.
Cousin Caroline has done so much for you and I tried to thank her for you and from our family.
Your grandaughter, Lindsay Hohne, was very upset at losing you. But she is a charmer, and I love her spunk and gift of the gab. She is truly a solid Hohne.
Cory was truly shocked to the nerves he said when he saw your picture of you in your cadets uniform, because he and you are identical. I think Cory never had a chance to see some of these pictures. I think it was
important for him to see that and for him to identify with you. I think he processed a lot today.
Brett should great pride and poise. He has done well.
It was so cool to see Lindsay interact with her Dad
Bryan. She just made me laugh.
Jayne came with her husband, Lance and three children; Cole, Taylorre and Landen. She is the most german looking of all of us and I always see grampa Hohne in her.
I was sad that my daughter could not make it but she was ill.
Rita never came, and that was unfortunate since she only has one family. I can imagine she will also have a cremation and let her ashes go into the wind.
Sandra probably dropped by to see you and family, along with other relatives and our mom.
So Dad, rest in peace. Go with all of your children's love for you to take you to next journey. We all thought you were our invincible father, and we all wished we had taken more time to speak to you.
Love from your eldest daughter
