Obituary of Margaret May Mcgaughey
On Tuesday, February 1, 2011, Margaret McGaughey of Vermilion passed away at the age of 92 years. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Name Roman Catholic Church on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Margaret will be missed by her children Raymond (Sharon) McGaughey, Calvin (Irene) McGaughey, Gary McGaughey, Kathleen McGaughey (Glen Puhalsky); grandchildren Sean (Nancy) McGaughey, Donald McGaughey (Karen Kimmett), Maureen (Andrew) Beatty, Sarah McGaughey (Kyle Glover), Robert McGaughey, Cyrus McGaughey, Anita McGaughey, William McGaughey, Calvin McGaughey Jr., James McGaughey, Matthew McGaughey, Gabriel McGaughey, Joseph (Jocelyn) LeVoir, Maggie (Luc) Cassivi, Lyndsey (Mel) Puhalsky, and Sheldon Puhalsky; great grandchildren Sarah Joy McGaughey, Jessica McGaughey, Aurora Glover McGaughey, Tarquin Beatty, Ephraim Beatty, Hanna LeVoir, Chloe LeVoir, Robert Cassivi and Julia Cassivi; sisters Edith Hicks and Rita Goshko; brothers in law Eddie Schneider, James (Alice) McGaughey and sister in law Margaret Bogel. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Hazel Horricks, her husband William McGaughey, two brothers, three sisters, and two grandsons. Mrs. McGaughey taught from 1962 - 1982 at St. Jerome's Vermilion. In her retirement years she compiled and wrote family history and kept in touch with relatives by e-mail. Margaret was a political activist all her adult life especially advocating for women and minorities. The family would like to thank the Mannville Care Centre, Vermilion Valley Lodge and Dr. Louw for their excellent care of Mom. No flowers please but memorial donations to charity of your choice.
