This photo was taken on September 14, 2002, at Uncle Floyd & Aunt Ruby's house in Kenabeek, Ontario, Canada. It's the 1st & only photo ever taken of both Uncle Floyd & my Dad (George) alone. I met them (Auntie & Uncle), & their family for the 1st time ever, only 7 days earlier at their son, Donald's house in Cobalt, Ontario, Canada.
This was the 1st time that we (my parents & I), had ever been to Auntie & Uncle's house. My Dad (George), had only met Uncle Floyd 2 times before these meetings in 2002. The first time in 1961, when Dad was only 8 years old, & the 2nd time, in 1987, at their father's funeral, when Dad was 33 years old. Both times, they were up in the Cochrane District area.
Even though they met those 2 previous times, they never really knew each other. Dad grew up in Porquis Junction, Cochrane District, Ontario, Canada. Where as, Uncle Floyd, grew up in New Liskeard, Temiskaming District, Ontario, Canada.
Both districts, are about a 4 hour drive from each other. Dad was the youngest of their father's 6 children: (from oldest to youngest): Floyd, Verna, Christine, Francis (known as Frank), Colleen, & George (my Dad). Both Dad & Colleen were from their father's 2nd family, which explains why there's such a huge age difference (22 1/2 years to be exact), between the 2 of them: (Uncle Floyd & my Dad, that is).
Whenever they said hello to each other, Dad, being funny would say, Hello, Flawed, & Uncle would answer back, hello there, little brother. They may not have gotten the same amount of years together as most of us who were fortunate enough to grow up our whole life with our siblings. But, Dad & Uncle Floyd, still got to have some great times together. Doing some fun things as grown men, instead of young boys. Like pulling pranks, teasing/joking, etc... Ones Dad will never forget, & will leave us all laughing for generations to come. :)
