So sorry for your loss. Only heard today about George's passing. He was such a great man. He always loved to visit. He was so faithful in visiting Mom and Dad and they truly appreciated it. We all loved his smile and laugh. You will be in my prayers.

Although the visits were few, we have great memories as so many others have noted, Uncle George could fill a room with laughter in no time at all. He knew where the "fish were" and cooked up a great shore lunch. His last visit was difficult, we spent time talking about family, the we'd already lost and those who we admired most. I know Dad enjoyed their visits back and forth and my family, like everyone else loved to hear his stories and, of course, that laugh. He told me that he was never interested much in "schooling" and was "just a farmer" but many a scholar could have learned from him. He knew what was important, kindness, generosity, and love and respect for family and friends. We're thinking of you all today.

I am sorry to hear George passed away. Also so sorry I missed the funeral. I remember him from my childhood as they had been neighbors and friends of my parents. Woods kids and my brother rode horseback to school together some of the time. George did custom work for my dad usually hauling grain to town. I remember the gold fish May kept. Very interesting to this little hill billy. It was exciting in my world when George and Nolda got married and started farming nearby. Mom, and Nolda with new babies, visited lots and had lots of laughs together. I also remember huge loaves of bread Nolda pulled out of her oven. ....so good. George's favorited. Hugs to Nolda and family. RIP George.

Our Uncle George was a very special part of our lives. There was no one who was not eager to listen to his stories and ask him questions about the past.
It doesn't seem possible that he is gone from our lives but the beautiful memories will live on in our hearts forever.
I remember in his younger years he would pay me 25 cents to clean out his car. He would tell me that Grandma was as big as the barn
although she was such a tiny little lady he always knew that it would get a rise out of me.
Our Uncle Bob and Uncle George would sometimes watch us at the farm when needed and one time we were made t drink our milk off a plate.
Grandpa and Grandma would collect bottles each year for Verna and I to wash up before returning them to earn money to go to the fair. One year
because the bottles were always full of gross fluff and spiders us girls decided to break the bottles but when discovered by Uncle George we both received a licken.
We always loved riding on the farm equipment with Grandpa or Uncle George and would spend hours at it. Especially the self propelled swather which was just like a ride at the fair.
We have so many sweet memories of our Uncle George staying for sleepovers at Uncle George and Auntie Nolda's farm. There were lots of chores to do gardening, childcare,
ccoking meals at harvest time but they will always remain our very best memories. We would look forward to going to Perch Lake for the weekends where friends and family would gather
to fish, swim and spend precious time together. Uncle George did lots of water skiing but also mastered the board which was a large heavy plywood flat surface in which he rode on
over the lake. My heart breaks for those family left behind and I send my love, my hugs and my prayers to Auntie Nolda, Waverly and family, Jenny and family and Liza and family. <3
