Obituary of Thomas Curtis Chesterman

Thomas Curtis Chesterman was born to the late Thomas and Blanche Chesterman in Wainwright on May 12, 1936. Thomas was raised with three brothers on the family farm. He loved to fix things, visit with people and play bridge. He obtained his Motor Vehicle Mechanic and Interprovincial Heavy Duty Mechanic licences and took welding and power engineering courses. He was a farmer, sea cadet, fire department volunteer, 4-H club leader, school bus driver, Rural Electrification Association Director, well borer, boiler operator and manager of apartment buildings. Although work tends to reveal much of who we are, Thomas will be remembered for his resolve and determination in battling Multiple Sclerosis for over 40 years. He defied the odds and continued to live on his own until 2014 when he moved to Points West. Most recently Thomas was residing at the Wainwright Long Term Care where he passed away peacefully amongst family at 82 years of age, on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. Thomas will be remembered by his children and their families: Ella Chesterman and her family, Josephine (Jason) Dodman with children, Amelia and Archer, Georgiana (Dylan) Gilchrist, Jessica (Kristopher Banner) Jefferys, Audrey Chesterman, Allen (Jackie) Chesterman and their family, Blake (Ashley) Chesterman with daughter, Janine, Tennille (Shawn) Haun and children, Seth and Colt, Blair, Natalie (Rolf) Falkenberg, Bob (Tina) Chesterman) with their children, Katie and Denai; as well by his brother, Jim (Helen) Chesterman and many nieces and nephews. Thomas was not only predeceased by his parents, but also two brothers, George and Arthur Chesterman; and nephew, Mark. A service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Royal Canadian Legion, Wainwright, Alberta. In lieu of flowers if friends desire, memorial contributions would be gratefully accepted by the MS Society of Alberta.
