Obituary of Vernon Henry Keast

Vernon (Brownie) KEAST of Vermilion, Alberta (formerly of Dewberry, Alberta) passed away after a lengthy struggle with lung complications in the Tofield Health Care Centre on Monday, March 3rd, 2008, at the age of 89 years. Vernon was born on July 5th, 1918 at Islay, Alberta. He spent most of his younger life working on the family farm north-west of Dewberry, later taking over the farm from his parents (Ernest & Etta). Vernon also spent some time in the military, along with his life-long friend, Ralph Lunden. Vernon loved farming, working with all kinds of farm animals, but horses was his preference and he was quite successful at raising several horses that he raced at Dewberry and Greenlawn picnics. Vernon is predeceased by his wife (Annette) of fifty nine years, one son (Jerry), three brothers (Cecil, Leonard and Orville), two sisters (Vera Romanchuk), and (Daisy Keylock). He is survived by six daughters…..Verna (Larry) Powley of Edmonton, AB.,Violet (Martin) Craige of Edmonton, AB., Valorie (Stan) Mamela of West Bank, B.C., Vidette (Art) Vaillancourt of Vegreville, AB.,Vannette Keast of Red Deer, AB., Vallette (Jackie) Lunder of Airdrie, AB. and one son…..Vernon (Vernie) of Edmonton, AB.; one brother (Russell) of Fairfield, Ohio, USA, along with seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
