This condolence is a little different from others on this page, in that it is a snapshot in time – I have not seen or had contact with Chad since 1975, when he, his parents Tom and Lori, and sister Laurie Lynn welcomed me into their home for several months. Both Chad and I were at high school, at Sir Winston Churchill Senior High in Calgary. I was shocked to hear of Chad’s death, which I gather was sudden and unforeseen, and was definitely too soon. My sympathies go very much to Chad’s wife Yvette, his daughters, and grandchildren. I am sure that you will retain good and strong memories of Chad. I was entirely unsurprised when Laurie Lynn sent me a photograph of Chad with a fine stag; when I knew him (he would have been 15 or perhaps 16 at the time) he had a number of guns (six if I recall correctly), and a love of hunting. Chad had a great humour, was very physically strong, but more importantly was mentally tough. He loved his dog, and was loyal to his friends. Nor am I surprised to find that Chad lived with his family in a small town in northern Alberta; even though Chad lived in the city when I know him it was clear to me at heart he was a country boy. I think that small town values would have sat easily with him. I think that he will have been a very good father and grandfather, and I can imagine him being mischievous with his daughters and grandchildren, spoiling them occasionally, but instilling strong values in them. My very warmest regards and sympathies go to all of Chad’s family; I am sure that in time you will be able to celebrate Chad’s life, for the moment it is good to grieve this premature loss.
