Dear Marcia and the entire Beare clan, you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time of great sorrow and loss for your family. Archie always had a big smile and hug that matched his great size and wonderful outgoing personality and he will be missed, but certainly never forgotten. It was a pleasure to have known him and while we mourn his passing, we shall remember his warmth, his generous hospitality and friendship. May you all find some small measure of comfort in this difficult time in knowing how much Archie was loved and admired by all those he encountered in his life.

Marcia and the Beare family,
Please accept our most sincere condolences; the loss of Archie will impact greatly on the entire Beare clan. Without doubt, Archie was in every respect the epitome of a family man.
Archie was exceptionally good to our family during our three years in Wainwright. Not only was he a most wonderful neighbour but he was always there to provide support and advice and to socialize with at the various Mess and Town activities. We still fondly recall that Archie and Marcia were able to host a family friend from Halifax - needless to say he was very impressed with Archie's warmth and generous hospitality. This certainly typifies the type of special individual that Archie was.
Archie was also a stalwart citizen of Wainwright and a friend to so many; he will be truly missed.
Please know that Jennifer and I are sharing your loss and that we are thinking about you all.

Dear Marcia, Murray, Stu, Debbie, Valerie, Jennifer and family:
We had to take a day or two to absorb the sad news of Archie's passing. It is way too sudden and way too early!
What can we add to the many comments and condolences sent by so many friends and family members. How do we capture all the things we want to say about Archie and the many things he accomplished in partnership with you, Marcia? The wonderful family, the legacy of great officers and soldiers he raised, trained or taught? His contributions to the Gunner world and to the Canadian Forces at large? His love for his community and those around him? His desire to always make things a little bit better?
We know you are in pain right now and that today will be filled with sadness and laughter as you remember Archie and discuss the good times as well as the bad. We wish we could be with you all to share in the hugs and the tears but also in the warmth of a great family who are a great tribute to a great man.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do and please know that we share your pain in the hopes that a shared burden is a lighter one.
Love from all of us- Mike, Barb, Mike, Sue, Pat and Janice.

It is with deep sadness and regret in just now learning of Archie's passing. I have many fond memories of linking up with Archie here and there over the years, along with Marcia and members of his family. I recall when soon after moving to Wainwright, both he and Marcia wasted no time in inviting me for dinner and signing the infamous guest book. The sharing of so many military and social activities over the years in Wainwright were made all the more enjoyable because of Archie- Mess functions, Men's Choir, pancake breakfasts, and especially cooking burgers and selling pies at the Stampede - he was 'the way in' to community events. Archie was a proud member and true ambassador of the Wainwright community, an outstanding gentleman, and friend. Archie - you will be missed, but not forgotten.

To the extended Beare Family
On behalf of our extended families, Beth and I wish to pass along our sincerest condolences on the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, sibling and soldier. I'm glad I had the very recent pleasure of playing a fun round of golf with "Archie", Stu and Murray in early September up in Ottawa. True to his generous form, your dad gave me the shirt off his back - the red polo shirt he wore in support of our troops on Friday's - so I could have a "Made in Canada" keepsake from a retired Canadian soldier.
I met Mr. Beare for the first time in 1979 at le college royal de St. Jean and then several times thereafter at his mom's place in Beaconsfield, just outside of Montreal. He and your mom - as well as Mr and Mrs Beare senior, always made me feel at home with their warm generosity, fine meals and great conversation.
Many people who knew your dad and your family all agreed on one thing - they were the perfect example of what a caring and close knit family looked like - a compliment to you all and certainly a testament to Mr. Beare's love for all of you.
We will always have fond memories of Mr. Beare and will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers as you celebrate his life.

To Marcia, Murray, Leslie, Graeme, Craig, Stu, France, Richard, Sarah, Cameron and all the Beare family and friends.
It was with great sadness that Lynn and I learned of Archie’s passing. We have many fond memories of what a wonderful man he was and how he was always there to help.
I was on Temporary Duty at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright medical clinic in the summer of 1984 when Archie was the Base Commander. It was sports afternoon and he called to invite me to come and play a round of golf with him. I declined as there was a pile of paperwork that needed to be completed. Shortly thereafter a staff car pulled up. The driver had instructions not to leave without me. I had a most enjoyable and unexpected round of golf with a great story teller.
There were other TD trips to Wainwright and Archie and Marcia graciously offered a room in their house so my wife Lynn could accompany me. It was so kind and thoughtful which is how we will always remember him. We spent many an evening with very pleasant company. Trips to Wainwright became something we both looked forward to.
RENDEVOUS 85 found me back in Wainwright. Lynn was 40 weeks pregnant with our first child and back in Calgary. I was considered operationally indispensable and not allowed to remain in Calgary with her. Archie came to the rescue by arranging for a helicopter to be on standby to fly me to Calgary whenever she was admitted in labour. This was such a caring gesture on his part yet so typical of the kind of man he was. I would have been on that helicopter if it had not been for white out conditions in Wainwright the day my son was born. There were things Archie could not control.
Lynn and I got to know Murray and then Stu when they served with 1 RCHA in Germany. They have both raised wonderful families and I know how proud Archie was of all his children, their spouses and the many grandchildren. He and Marcia had set a good example.
We met Archie and Marcia again in December of 2009 at Murray and Leslie’s anniversary celebration. They were warm and caring as always and Archie had not lost any of his story telling abilities. He was surrounded by family and friends which was clearly the most important thing in his life.
Archie made a lasting impression with both Lynn and I. His kindness, caring and warmth will never be forgotten. If we could give everyone a hug we would. I’m sure he would have liked that.
Ken, Lynn, Shane, Chandra and Lisa Scott

Dear Stu and Murray,
Your father had a personality the size of Eastern Alberta and, as the multitude of messages you will have received indicate, it won for him the respect and affection of all with whom he served or in other ways came to know him. I was pleased to have had the opportunity to be reminded of this fact as I chatted with him and observed him interacting with his fellow Gunners at the RCAA AGM in Shilo in September. To lose a parent is always a hard blow. May the knowledge that so many of us - your Dad’s comrades and friends from across The Royal Regiment, the Army and beyond - are holding him and you in their thoughts at this time, be a source of comfort to you, your mother, sister and other family members. Ubique. Jim.

Tricia and I arrived in Wainwright in 1999 from Ireland not knowing a soul.
A few weeks after settling into our new house, a couple stood on our doorstep with a bottle of wine and a welcome. This, as we came to know, was typical Archie and Marcia, and resulted in a lasting friendship, and many enjoyable parties.
To Marcia and all the Beare families, we offer our sincere condolences.

Dear Marcia and family,
The loss of a truly remarkable man. All who knew Archie will have a favourite memory or story of the time they have spent with a true gentleman, a fine soldier, an all round wonderful person.
We count ourselves so lucky that we had the opportunity to share so many fun times together over the last 10 years. These fun times generally ended with a wee dram or two!
Archie you were an inspiration to us both, you are gone but you will never be forgotten as our "Canadian Dad"
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
With much love and affection.

Marcia and all of the family. Looking through these condolences it will be difficult to say anything that has not already been said! THAT being said, I fondly remember serving with Archie in the early 70's in Shilo and the many mess parties. He helped sort me out a couple of times on the Shilo ranges as well, and I never received any bad advice from him! Water polo was a treat as well. I was privileged to be at his retirement dinner in Wainwright in the mid-eighties, and to be re-connected with you both on the Hawaii cruise was a real delight.
Marcia - words cannot really express our feelings at your loss, but just know that we are with you at this sad time.
