Dear Claire, Clinton & Curtis.
Our "Deepest Sympathy" for the loss of your wife and mother !
We pray for each of you and
"We Wish Each of You Enough" !!
I WISH YOU ENOUGH
Recently I overheard a Father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.
Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the Father said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.'
The daughter replied, 'Dad, our life together has been more than enough.
Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Dad.'
They kissed and the daughter left. The Father walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry.
I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'
'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever
good-bye?'..
'I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral,' he said.
'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough.' May I ask what that means?'
He began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone...' He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even
more.
'When we said, 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.' Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
He then began to cry and walked away.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.
To all our friends and loved ones, WE WISH YOU ENOUGH.
Gordon & Rita Mielke

Good Morning Claire,
I'm not sure if you remember me or not but I have just heard of your loss of your beautiful wife. Many years ago, you were there for me and my family as we were trying to cope with a toxic marital breakup. My ex had tried to kill himself in our yard north of Mannville by slamming a truck into a pole. You were the officer on the scene. But you went further than what was required as an RCMP officer. I can remember all of your kind, reassuring words and your gestures of kindness as well. I remember the beef jerky you brought out for the children a while later. Years later my son Jesse was to be your neighbor in Vermilion for a while. Your wife, Claire also went further than a neighbor had to by always watching over him and on several occasions bringing him home baked cookies. What a wonderful gesture as well. On many occasions, Jesse would talk about how wonderful you both were and of course how good those warm cookies were. My daughter Alicia, just heard of your loss this morning and called to tell me. She did not have the pleasure of meeting your wife however she does remember your kind words and gestures from that time in our lives where you were so much support to our family. Claire there are no words that I can say that will make this all better but please know that we are thinking of you at this time of great loss.
Sincerely,
Gwen & Family

I wanted to thank Claire for teaching me English as a young boy, in Oyen, AB. As a child I didn't overly understand the importance of speaking another language but as the years pass I am thankful that she took some of her time to pass that knowledge onto me. It is with great sadness that I pay my respects to the family; Claire, Curtis and Clinton. I wish you courage and clear conscience on the road ahead. My thoughts are with you.

It was by chance I stumbled on this memory of Claire, I didn't know you both very we'll or for very long but Claire inquired about reglazing her bathtub quite extensively before pursuing it. I did have the pleasure of resurfacing it and meeting you both in person. I distinctly remember our conversations about hunting and the birds from the wainwright area you enjoyed so much. Although we have not been in touch and I did not know Claire outside those boundaries I felt she was a gentle soul and would have been a great friend. I am deaplevaaddent to hear of your loss Claire, your hunting friend and bathtub guy, Gordie.
