It is with a very heavy heart that I write this. We didn't have the privilege to meet your mom or to feel one of her beautiful hugs she passed out in the mornings to the kids on their way to school but we sure looked forward to seeing her sweet little soul out there faithfully every morning as we drove past on the bus. Ray & family We are so saddened to hear of the loss of our dear Pheemie. Such a wonderful lady and we are so glad she was a part of our lives. We will never forget the many cups of tea we shared and of course having our tea leaves read!(even through the cookie crumbs!). Mrs Hunka will be so missed. Her cheerful disposition, her daily waving at the school buses, her cute signs she held. She was an amazing woman. On the evening of her passing huge clouds moved in and the sky was black. I work ambulance and my partner and I were standing outside. Suddenly the sky to the west turned bright bright pink as the sun shine through under one very black cloud. Then, to the east the hugest, brightest rainbow we have ever seen appeared. We both exclaimed "that is Mrs. Hunka going to heaven". It was amazing, just as she was. To the Hunka family, please accept my deest sympathies.

When Phemie closed her eyes and ever so gently, Phemie style, passed on, the world as you know it changed forever. She still sees you and will continue to be in your lives just in a different way. In life, you don't meet too many people that are as genuine as Phemie. Everyday I think about how excited she was when I'd see her before school or when I would pay her and Ray a visit. Always offering a warm hug wanting to know how my day was going. She was a little woman who made a big impact on this town. By waving her signs every morning and giving hugs to the kids walking to school she made a lot of people's days better. Her ways are a good example of how positivity can make a large impact. To Phemie's family, I wish you all the best in this tough time. It is difficult to lose those close to you, but at least Phemie lived a long, happy life. That is something right there to be thankful for.
