Obituary of Neil Martin

Neil Martin passed away May 25, 2016 in Edmonton at the age of 60 years. Neil Franklin Martin was born on May 10, 1956 in Vermilion, Alberta, to Jeffrey and Edith Martin. Neil spent his younger years on the farm south of Vermilion, in the Preston area. With his brothers and sisters, Neil rode the bus to attend Preston School. Neil will be remembered as a joyful and happy person with a big bright smile. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing with hands in the air and singing along lifting spirits of all people around him. He was an artist, liked to swim, bowl, go out for coffee and joined in group social activities. He will be greatly missed by his caring friends and housemates from Edmonton whom he conversed with daily. They are the people who helped fill his life with meaning and happiness. Thank you to this group of lovely people. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Edith Fay Martin; siblings Dennis (Susan) Martin, Lois (Don) Lucas, Albert (Cindy) Martin, and Dorothy (Ernie) Decker; as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and a grandnephew. He was predeceased by his father Jeffrey Martin; as well as brothers Lynn and Earl Martin. A Funeral Service will be held at Lakeland Funeral Home on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Alberta Division or a charity of choice.
